Planning to Pull Off a Mother’s Day Party? Check this Out!
The first option for most people during Mother’s Day is to take their mums to eat on fancy restaurants. There’s nothing wrong with it, but if you want to skip the reservation, the long lines, and the mediocre food, why don’t you just throw a party at home instead? You may or may not have to spend that much, but you can be sure that the experience will be more personal and memorable. What’s more is you can have the freedom to be as casual or formal as you wish. You can be creative and come up with your own, or you can pick from one of these themes.
Traditional Brunch
A simple brunch can be an elegant way to celebrate Mother’s Day. Make it extra special by serving quiche, which you can either make from scratch or create using pre-mixed filling poured over a frozen crust. Other great choices would include red flannel hash, fat almond pancake, minty grapefruit salad, spinach and cheese strata, and blueberry pizza with caramelised shallots and whipped ricotta. You can even have simple scrambled eggs and roasted hash brown if you’d like.
Invite the ladies to come over and make Mother’s Day memorable with an outdoor lunch. Set up the table with fresh flowers to add colour and fragrance. Make sure not to use plastic furniture since this is an elegant lunch. To make things more special, bring the entire dining set outside so everyone can enjoy the time comfortably. Don’t be afraid to mix and match styles and patterns when setting up the table. For the food, you can have citrus salad, roasted asparagus, orange glazed rolls, and a lime-inspired dessert. Save time by serving bottled drinks.
Fancy Tea Party
If your mum and her girl friends are a little bit old-fashioned, they will certainly love an afternoon tea party. Teatime is traditionally set in the mid or late afternoon and includes tea and some dainty snacks. Don’t overdo it and simply go for bite-size foods, such as pastries, muffins, biscuits, scones, and sandwiches. Fruits for dessert would also be a great idea. To make things even more interesting, invite the guests to bring their favourite teacup. During the party, have each of them share how they got the teacup. This will definitely excite them, especially if their stories relate to Mums.
Garden Party
If you have an inviting porch or garden, consider having your party outdoors. May is usually the season when spring flowers are in full bloom and you can definitely take advantage of it. A memorable garden party should be intimate, so only invite people who are very close to your mum. It should also be elegant, so don’t hesitate to break out the china and the crystal. Use an elegant tablecloth and add centerpieces made out of real flowers. This is an excellent time for cooking, but if you’re not in the mood or if you want to save time, simply serve an assortment of pasta and salads.
Barbecue In The Backyard
Finally, you can have a simple party in your backyard. Mother’s day is a day that men can also enjoy. A great way to involve the dads and the brothers is by throwing a backyard barbecue party. Light up the grill and load up the chicken, steak, hot dogs, and burgers. Let corn on the cob, pasta salad, baked beans, and wine or beer complete the menu. And don’t forget the nachos!
